Jimmy T’s Provisions & Gourmet has been extra busy in the past week as more and more Jaco and Los Sueños visitors take advantage of our professional catering and private chef services. Between wedding receptions and group vacation dinners, chefs Jimmy T, Sean Bennett and Cinthya Chavez have been cooking up some delicious feasts, served by our well-trained and reliable service staff.

Last weekend, private parties on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings were a great success, featuring an elaborate sushi buffet -- fresh tuna, salmon, grouper and eel, served alongside our signature Japanese Soba Noodle Salad and Tuna Sashimi in a Teriyaki-Soy Marinade. Throughout the weekend, our chefs prepared fresh Lobster and Grade-A Steak for 25 guests in their Los Sueños home, and even served up a delicious spread including the catch of the day from the guys' fishing outing that same afternoon– fresh grilled grouper and cocktails had all of our guests smiling and satisfied.

On tap this weekend, we’re double-booked to cater a Wedding Welcome Reception for 50 guests at the Los Sueños Marriot and a private in-house party for a group of 17 guests from Washington DC, joining us now for a second time—happy to have you back! For the wedding Welcome Reception, it’s cocktails and Hors D'eorves tonight, featuring empanadas, mini-quiche, ceviche and mini-pizzas, plus full beverage service and wait staff. For the in-house party, we’re serving traditional Costa Rican with chicken and fish to kick off the weekend. We’re really looking forward to these great events!

About Jimmy Tancrell, Owner

As a former chef on a megayacht, Jimmy often had difficulty finding local suppliers who could provide the foodstuffs and condiments necessary for the gourmet meals his clients expected. During long days at sea under star-filled skies, the crew and staff would talk about their dreams of 'life after yachting'. And for Jimmy Tancrell a dream was born ... to provide a service for other 'yachty' chefs who were in the same boat as he was: in need of adequately stocked galleys complete with condiments, spices, quality beef & assorted meats, fresh vegetables, fruits and cheeses. Life after yachting led Jimmy to Los Suenos Marina in Herradura on Costa Rica's Central Pacific Coast where he had already discovered the year-round availability of wonderful fresh fruits and vegetables offered at local farmers' markets. The dream came true when Jimmy T's Provisions and Gourmet Foods opened dockside at Los Suenos Marina in May 2007.
